There was a time when sweets were not bought in boxes. They arrived wrapped in paper, carried carefully by a loved one returning from a journey. And among all the treasures from Karnataka, nothing brought more excitement than a "paper parcel" of authentic Mysore Pak.

The moment the paper wrapper opened, the fragrance of ghee and other ingredients filled the room. Children gathered around, elders smiled knowingly, and everyone waited for that first bite. Soft yet rich, delicate yet indulgent, the sweet would crumble gently before melting away, leaving behind a warmth that felt like home itself.

When the royal chef Kakasura Madappa presented the sweet to the Maharaja , the sweet was so well received that it earned a place in the royal repertoire and came to be known as "Mysore Pak" — literally meaning "the sweet of Mysore."
